The 21st century is considered as "The Century of Water" all
over the world and the related studies estimate the huge challenge of explosive
needs of safe and high quality water. Therefore nowadays in Japan, water
separating membrane technology is now drawing great attention and highly
expected to be the key to the solution.
Meanwhile, as one of the most strategically developed region in Japan where world-class environmental and energy industries, research universities as well as hi-tech facilities are located. Hyogo prefecture is currently reinforcing its "Hyogo Environment and Energy Innovation Cluster". Our project therefore was selected and initiated under such background from 2012, by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology(MEXT).
Starting from the core member - Center for Membrane and Film Technology at Kobe University, diverse research professionals from Kobe University and University of Hyogo are gathering in this project. In addition, the close collaboration with hi-tech facilities such as SPring-8 and Supercomuputer K are currently facilitated as well. We deeply believe such initiatives will build up Hyogo's key position within the green innovation of water businesses and bring economic and societal benefits to our community.
